Grandma Dorothy (Dixie) died
I hate putting on paper something that would take a lifetime to actually write in words the memories of one of the greatest grandmas that ever lived on this earth. How can you describe and have someone feel like they were walking in her house and smelling the peppermint from her favorite candy or tasting the pink lemonade that was guaranteed to be in her fridge? What about experiencing her raisin filled cookies and letting the texture of the cookie transform you back to Autumn time when all the menfolk in the family went hunting and we'd watch Pride and Prejudice with Grandma? I love how Grandma always had her favorites: her favorite candy, her favorite drink, her favorite movie, her favorite cookie, her favorite holiday candy. Grandpa Wilson also had his favorite: Lemon Heads. I need to work on my favorites' list. Perhaps my favorite would be Hot Tamales.
My fondest memory of Grandma is sitting on the corner of the couch next to her in her rocking chair and just talking. I don't ever remember a time that she wasn't available to just talk. She'd ask about your life and about everyone else. She loved us and was proud of every one of us; there was no doubt. She took such pride in our accomplishments, and she was there every step of the way. Whether it was sporting activities or personal achievements, she was always there. While writing my first book, I had my grandma in mind and am thankful she introduced me to Jane Austen. I gave her an early copy on Mother's Day 4 years ago and I dedicated it to her for instilling my euphoric dreams of happily ever afters. I'm grateful for my grandma's love of life and love of her family and for showing me the kind of patience I want to have in my life. I'm grateful for the gospel, and I know she is having the best happily ever after with Grandpa in heaven.

Europe Vacay
Here we come. The Montgomery bunch is traveling to Europe on a 7 day Mediterranean Cruise. With stops at Nice, Florence, Rome, & Pompeii, our happy selves can't stop ourselves from smiling. It's going to be a fun-filled trips, and we will learn a ton. Just wish us luck on our 9 hr flight with the twins. :/
School is back in session
My dad died
How do you start a post about your dad unexpectedly dying? It's not fun and I don't like it. I got a text from my mom on July 1st saying that my dad was having some chest pains and they were at the hospital getting checked out. Soon after my sister called to tell me that Dad was going in for emergency surgery. The aorta going to my dad's heart was detaching. There was only about 10 minutes between the time they told me dad needed surgery to the time they wheeled him into the operating room. We thought he would come out of the surgery, but he never did. I drove up to UT to see my dad one more time on July 3rd. He died just after midnight on July 4th. It still seems so unreal. I miss my dad terribly. I'm glad for the testimony I have that I'll get to see him again someday. Thank goodness for temples and the promise of forever families. Love you Dad!!!

Karen Witemeyer is AWESOME!
Love her books. Her new one, 'Full Steam Ahead' doesn't disappoint. I had the great privilege of receiving an early copy so I could review it. I loved it! The story that unfolds is everything I imagined it would be and so much more! This author has a way of building the foundation of her stories with just enough information but not drowning it so you lose interest. A lot of times I find myself in other books skimming over the background information, but I didn't with this book because I was interested in the background as much as the story. Thank you Karen for writing another story that is perfect in every way.
Timeout
As you can tell from my last post, I haven't gotten much done besides cuddling my two cute babies. I have enjoyed the crazy, wonderful part of my life...somewhat like a 'timeout'. Writing and even reading has been put on hold. I have read a few things here and there, but not much. As if I feel guilty. The answer is not at all. I know these precious days will pass all too quickly, and I am going to snuggle these babies as much as I can.

Happy Birth-day to my twins!!!
February 27th our precious twins were born. They were 34 weeks gestation and are doing great. We are hanging out at the NICU for a few weeks because of needing oxygen and learning to eat. Learning to suck, swallow, and breath is hard.
